Rob Hughes
Rob Hughes joined the ABC 7 Eyewitness News team as a weekend evening anchor and a weekday reporter in August 2023.

"Rob is a skilled and experienced anchor as well as a versatile reporter who has covered everything from big sports stories to politics," said ABC7's news director at the time.

Hughes joins ABC 7 from Atlanta News First, the CBS station in Atlanta where he first served as weekend morning anchor/reporter and was quickly promoted to weekday morning anchor/reporter. He covered numerous major stories including Georgia's transition from red state to swing state, an Atlanta Braves World Series, and the impact of tropical storm Hurricane Zeta, for which the news team won an Emmy® Award for Best Morning Newscast.

From 2016 to 2020, Hughes served as an anchor/reporter at WCNC in Charlotte, North Carolina, after transitioning from the sports anchor desk. Prior to that, he worked as a sports director at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana, and began his broadcast career as a sports reporter/anchor at Kansas First News.

He graduated from Purdue University in Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in economics and earned a Master of Arts in sports journalism from Indiana University.
