LA GRANGE, Ill. (WLS) -- Metra BNSF trains began resuming operations Friday evening after it was disrupted in parts of the west suburbs due to a semi being struck by a freight train.
A freight train struck a semi around 1:52 p.m. at the La Grange Road crossing at a station in La Grange, Metra officials said.
All three main train lines were blocked due to the crash, Metra said. Two lines have now reopened.
No one was injured in the crash, La Grange police said. The semi was dragged by the train after the impact, and it damaged the train station building.
Video provided to ABC7 showed the moment of impact.
BNSF line service was disrupted from Westmont to Berwyn for a few hours.
"BNSF trains will not operate from Fairview Ave. through Berwyn due to a freight train striking a vehicle. Trains will operate from Chicago to Berwyn and Aurora through Fairview Ave. until further notice," Metra said.
Trains began to resume operations around 6:30 p.m.
Passengers were recommended to use alternative transportation as the issue was being addressed.
No further information about the freight train semi crash was immediately available.
